40yrold Hisar man hacks wife to death, commits suicide

A 40-year-old man hacked his wife to death in Hisar and later committed suicide by hanging himself at Shiv Nagar locality under Mandi Adampur police’s jurisdicti­on of Hisar district in the wee hours of Saturday.

The police said a case of murder has been registered under relevant sections against Bhanwar Singh Thakur for killing his 36-year-old wife Santoshi Rani.

Investigat­ion officer (IO) Sunil Kumar of Mandi Adampur police station said, “Till now, we have establishe­d in investigat­ion that Thakur hailed from Mithanpura village of Ellenabad of Sirsa district and was working as a labourer here.”

“The couple had a fight in the wee hours following which Bhanwar killed his wife with a sharp-edged weapon and later committed suicide,” he added.

Chander Bhan, police spokespers­on said, “The neighbours told the police that the couple was childless and often indulged in arguments. One of the neighbours informed the police about the incident on Saturday. The police also recovered the weapon from the crime spot.”

Police said the bodies were sent for autopsy at a local general hospital in Hisar. Further investigat­ion has also been initiated into the case.
