CHANDIGARH: The BJP’s Punjab unit will hold a protest rally in Jalandhar on March 18 to mark what it termed as one-year of misrule of the Capt Amarinder Singh government in Punjab.

The BJP said it will also release a report card to nail the lies of the Congress government.

Punjab BJP president Vijay Sampla announced this after chairing a two meetings of party’s state office-bearers and the core group members on Sunday at the party headquarters in Chandigarh on Sunday.

Sampla said the BJP Yuva Morcha will organise a programme at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar on March 23 to mark the martyrdom day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.

Also, the scheduled caste (SC) wing of the party will organise a programme on the birth anniversary of Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar on April 14, he said.

Sampla inducted Aam Aadmi Party’s Punjab joint secretary Deepak Sood into the party fold in the presence of the media and senior BJP members. Sood had unsuccessfully contested the assembly elections from the Rajpura segment.

On the recent municipal election results in Punjab, Sampla said it was not the mandate of the people as the Congress government misused the state machinery to win the elections. Had the elections been fair, the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (SAD-BJP) alliance would have won easily, he claimed. State party vice-presidents Harjit Singh Grewal and Iqbal Singh Lalpura; state secretaries Vineet Joshi, Vijay Puri and Amandeep Punia; media secretary Diwan Amit Arora, assistant media secretary Subodh Verma and state treasurer Gurdev Debi were present on the occasion.
