DY CM ASSURES FREE, FAIR PROBE
Over the allegations of harassment levelled by the youth of Rasana village against the crime branch, which is probing the murder of an eight-year-old girl, deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh here on Sunday assured a free and fair probe into the incident.
Since the past few days, the locals of Rasana village are up in arms against the crime branch wing of Jammu & Kashmir Police for allegedly harassing the youth and trying to implicate them at the instance of members of a particular section, who are doing this out of personal enmity.
The body leading the agitation in Kathua has given BJP an ultimatum up to March 5 for handing over the case to CBI. Singh said, “We (BJP) condemn this most unfortunate incident. No sane person can ever support the heinous crime perpetrated against the minor girl. However, their should be free and fair inquiry into the incident.”
“I assure that while a free and fair inquiry will be conducted into the incident, no one will be unnecessarily harassed,” Singh told in presser on Sunday.
On Thursday, two BJP ministers who visited the area, had seconded locals’ demand of a CBI probe.
