THE POSSIBILITIES

-

Minerva

They need to beat Churchill and they will be champs with 35 points because no other team can get that many. Even if they draw, Minerva can be champs if the other two games also end inconclusively. A defeat too can make them champions should the other games end in draws. Then, Minerva will win because they have a better head to head vs NEROCA.

NEROCA FC

They must beat East Bengal away and hope Churchill can deny Minerva a win. The debutants will then be on 34 points and emerge champions. NEROCA, who won the 2nd Div title last season, will be boosted by the fact that they have had a 17-day break. East Bengal, on the other hand, have had just two days of rest.

East Bengal

Till they had an attack of Monday blues and foozled it in Shillong, East Bengal were best-placed to win their first I-League title. But after the 2-2 draw, they have to beat NEROCA and hope Minerva and Mohun Bagan drop points. EB will then be champs on 33 points and by virtue of a better head-to-head record vs Minerva.

Mohun Bagan

They will have to beat Gokulam Kerala and hope that archrivals East Bengal can beat NEROCA, or even hold them to a draw, and Churchill save relegation by beating Minerva. If Bagan, East Bengal and Minerva end on 33 points, Bagan will emerge champs because they have the maximum points (7) in matches among these three.
