GANGSTER BROUGHT TO KAPURTHALA ON REMAND

-

KAPURTHALA: The Kapurthala police on Tuesday brought gangster Sandeep Singh alias Sonu, a key aide of slain gangster Sukha Kahlwan, on 2-day police remand from the Hoshiarpur jail for interrogation. Sonu was arrested by a CIA team from Sadarpur near Dasuya on March 11.

Police said Sonu was close to slain gangster Sukha Kahlwan and had been declared a proclaimed offender in several cases, including murder, and had been on the run for a long time.

A .38 bore revolver and 38 cartridges were recovered on his revelation during interrogation. SSP Sandeep Kumar Sharma said “After returning from UK in 2008, he came in contact with Sukha. They killed gangster Lalli Bawa in 2010. A case was registered against him for firing on a police party near Kesopur village on August 11, 2010. Three cases are pending against him in Jalandhar and one more was registered at the Nakodar police station.”
