GENDER INEQUALITY AT GOLDEN TEMPLE

This is with reference to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parabandhak Committee’s plans to beautify parks at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. But parks alone cannot enhance the charm of the place. Gender inequality on the Harmandar Sahib premises is so visible. Why women are not allowed to chant kirtan? This is no mention in Gurbani that women can’t perform kirtan. Half of our problems arise sue to lack of proper knowledge about religion and values enshrined in it. It is high time we change our mentality.
