FCI MANAGER NABBED TAKING ₹80,000 BRIBE

MOGA : The Central Bureau of Investigat­ion (CBI) has arrested Food Corporatio­n of India (FCI) depot manager Virender Singh from Moga on Tuesday while accepting a bribe of ₹80,000.

The raid was conducted by inspector Mohinder Ram following a complaint by Rohit Mittal, a rice miller, who alleged that the depot manager demanded bribe from him to dump the consignmen­t of rice to be delivered at the FCI godown.

The CBI is also probing the role of the FCI quality manager and manager of private godown. A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Mohali CBI court has sent the accused to twoday remand.

The CBI also recovered cash from the office of FCI district manager Piyush Tiwari, who tried to flush down the currency notes in the washroom.
