Don’t issue meat licences: CM to Gurgaon MC
Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister (CM) Haryana, asked the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to not issue any more meat licences to meat traders after getting complaints of unauthorised meat traders in the city. The CM was presiding over a district grievances redressal committee meeting amidst a high level of security at the Mini Secretariat on Saturday.
The complainant informed the CM that the MCG, which was authorised to issue meat licences, had issued licences to 129 traders, while the permitted number was 82. The complainant reminded the CM that during the previous district grievance redressal meeting, the MCG had been asked to not issue meat licences above the permissible limit.
The CM took a strong note of the complaint and ordered the official responsible for the meat licences to restrict the number to 129 until further notice from the government.
“I order the MCG to remove all meat traders who are operating without a licence. The MCG should ensure that licenced meat traders display their licence numbers,” he said.
“The MCG must also warn other illegal traders to close their shops, or collect their applications and submit them to the government. The government will then decide whether to resettle them and/ or issue licences for them,” he said.
Khattar heard 26 complaints at the meeting. The complaints included those from private localities, MCG areas, Huda sectors and some unauthorised localities.
