Three sisters in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki tried to commit suicide by jumping in front of train after being allegedly sexually exploited by their father. Passerby saved two sisters but the eldest sibling was grievously injured and her legs had to be amputated.

The station master rushed the injured girl to Mathura Nagar community health centre from where the doctors referred her to the district hospital. She was then sent to Trauma Centre, Lucknow. ASP, Barabanki, Shashikant Tiwari said the police have started investigation.

The two girls have been sent to the hospital for medical examination and their statement will be recorded.

A police team has been sent to Bhitariya village under Dariyabad police station to interrogate the accused.

On Thursday, the girls aged 20, 17 and 15 had gone to neighbouring Taali village to attend the marriage of a family friend. When they returned home at night, their father tried to rape the eldest daughter. When she protested, he beat all the three up and pushed them outside the house.

On Friday morning, when they tried to enter the house, they were again beaten up by their father.

The girls told the doctors and police officer that their father had raped them. When they objected to his act, they were beaten up and threatened of dire consequences, they added.
