7am: When Vedic chants echoed at BJP offices in 11 Haryana districts
CHANDIGARH: At 7am sharp on Monday, the Vedic chants were reverberating in 11 district headquarters of the BJP-ruled Haryana.
And at the same time during the 30-minute “auspicious” window, the frontline state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders performed ‘bhoomi poojan’ of what will be identically designed swanky offices of the saffron party.
The BJP leaders say if the plans are executed as per the script, the party will have its own offices in all the districts with modern and similar facilities ahead of the high-stakes 2019 Lok Sabha and later state assembly elections.
So far, the BJP had its own offices in four districts on 250-sq yard plots, while in other places the party was running its affairs from rented accommodation, Rajiv Jain, BJP leader and media adviser of chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said.
Now, the new offices will be built on the “institutional plots” of 1,000 sq yard and 2000 sq yard bought from the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda). While foundation stones of 11 offices were laid on Monday, party had bought a constructed building at Jind.
The plots in the remaining five districts will be finalised within this month.
Panchkula and Rohtak offices will control and monitor the functioning of all the offices.
A Gurgaon-based BJP functionary GL Sharma said the design of all the party offices will be same with facilities such as a big hall that can accommodate 300 people, retiring rooms, library, media- briefing centre, IT and the war rooms.
“Finally, the party workers will have a good place in every district where they can assemble to run the party activities,” Sharma said.
Kaithal district president Ashok Gurjar said BJP paid Rs 1.16 crore to Huda and bought 1,510 sq yard plot for the office in sector 19 of Kaithal.
On Monday, the groundbreaking ceremonies were held in Panchkula, Gurgaon, Sonepat, Nuh, Palwal, Ambala, Kaithal, Bhiwani, Fatehabad and Charkhi Dadri.
While chief minister Khattar held ‘bhoomi pujan’ at Panchkula, state BJP chief Subhash Barala was at Gurugram . Cabinet minister Kavita Jain performed the rituals at Sonepat and transport minister Krishan Panwar at Kaithal.
BJP’s Karnal district president Jagmohan Anand said land near Atal Park was bought for office from the party fund.
The new party office will be ready before the 2019 elections, he said.
IDENTICALLY DESIGNED SWANKY OFFICES WILL BE BUILT BY THE PARTY
