Two days after a speeding dumper claimed the lives of four persons in Sohna, three men, including two students of a private university who were friends, were killed when their car collided head-on with a rashly driven dumper while returning from a marriage of their friend at Maujabad in Pataudi.

Such was the impact of the crash that all three sustained grievous injuries, which led to their death, the police said. The driver of the dumper was booked for causing death due to negligence and rash driving. The case was registered at Pataudi police station.

According to the complainant Jitender Kataria, who studies in Amity University and is a resident of Sheetla colony, he, along with some friends, had gone to the attend the marriage of another friend, Lokesh Kataria, of Maujabad village in Pataudi. He said the incident took place around 11pm.

“We were travelling in a Maruti Brezza and some of our other friends were travelling in a Hyundai Creta, which was moving ahead of us. When we reached the Moujpur crossing, which is located within the jurisdiction of Pahari village, a speeding dumper crashed into the Creta, leaving it badly damaged,” Kataria said.

Such was the impact of the crash that all three occupants were stuck inside the vehicle and it took a considerable time and help from locals to pull them out.

The three victims were identified as Jitender Kadyan, Arjun Malik and Keshav Kumar. They were taken to Rockland hospital where they were pronounced dead. Both Keshav and Jitender are students of Amity University whereas Arjun worked as a helper. The complainant said that the dumper was being driven at such a fast speed that they did not realise what had hit the car. The dumper’s driver managed to escape from the spot as the friends of the victims were trying to rescue them. A large number of locals also gathered at the spot and helped the victims after hearing the loud crash.

Keshav got married only two months ago. The police said they handed over the bodies to the family members after conducting the autopsy. “The accused driver will be arrested soon,” said Ravinder Kumar, Gurugram police PRO.
