Oppn uses minority issues as ammo against Modi govt, says Harsimrat
SUNAM (SANGRUR): Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Sunday accused the opposition of using minority issues as ammunition against the Narendra Modi government at the Centre as they fail to counter its development agenda.
In this context, she referred to the Jinnah portrait row at the Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) and the Kathua rape case.
The Union minister was speaking after inaugurating a Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra in Sunam. Former Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa was also present on the occasion.
She said the performance of the Modi government has been acknowledged at the world level and India has received a huge foreign direct (FDI) investment in the past four years of the NDA regime.
“The Modi government has provided electricity to each village of the country. When opposition parties fail to counter the development agenda of the government, they spread false propaganda like minority safety,” she added.
Harsimrat also alleged that the drug menace has now increased in the state. “But the people who took oath to eradicate drugs and those who were singing songs holding the SADBJP responsible for the problem are now silent,” she said in an apparent reference to chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Aam Aadmi Party’s Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann.
On the farm debt issue, she said, “The Congress government has failed to waive off farmers debt. The farmers are committing suicide, especially in Sangrur district, but the local MP is not speaking on the matter.”
On the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra, the minister said the youth of the region will be trained as home health aides, distributors, salesmen, animal health workers, and CCTV technicians free of cost.
