RATCLIFFE REPLACES HINDUJAS AT THE TOP OF BRITAIN’S RICH LIST

After topping Britain’s rich list for several years, the Hinduja brothers were relegated to the second position in the latest version by the rags-to-riches story of Jim Ratcliffe, who founded a chemical company and is estimated to be worth £21.05 billion.

Rich List said Hinduja brothers, Srichand and Gopichand, were worth £20.64 billion after seeing their fortune rise by £4.44 billion from 2017.

At £14.66 billion, steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and family dropped one place from 2017 to the fifth place in the top 10.

AIRTEL PLANS TO PUSH HOME BROADBAND AHEAD OF JIO’S LAUNCH

India’s largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel, which was so far a relatively small wired internet business, plans to push its home broadband offerings in new cities and also expand its network coverage within existing cities ahead of a likely commercial launch by Reliance Jio later this year.

“We have stepped up investment­s on home broadband. We do 400,000-500,000 home passes a year. Last year we did almost 2 million home passes,” a person with direct knowledge of the matter said requesting anonymity.

WOW AIRLINE TO OFFER DELHI-NEW YORK FARES FROM JUST ₹13,499

For price conscious Indian travellers, internatio­nal air travel is becoming more affordable. Iceland’s long-haul budget airline Wow Air on Tuesday announced its entry into the Indian market offering ultra low fares for services from New Delhi to North America and Europe.

Wow Air founder and chief executive officer Skuli Mogensen said at a press conference that the company which picked New Delhi as the first city to start service in Asia is offering a one-way economy class fare from India’s capital to destinatio­ns like Iceland, US, Canada and London starting from ₹13,499 inclusive of taxes.
