HP govt marks day with launch of 3 schemes

The Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre completed its four years on Saturday. On the occasion, Himachal Pradesh chief minister (CM) Jai Ram Thakur launched three “ambitious schemes for the welfare of people, which will pace up developmen­t in the state.

The schemes are ‘Jan Manch’, which will redress public grievances in an effective manner; ‘Mukhyamant­ri Swavalamba­n Yojana’, aimed at providing assistance to youth of the state for starting their own ventures and ‘Himachal Grahini Suvidha Yojana’, for women empowermen­t and environmen­t conservati­on by providing gas cylinder security and gas stoves to women who were not covered under the Union government’s ‘Ujjwala Yojana’.

“The ‘Jan Manch’ scheme would go a long way in prompt redressal of public grievances,” the CM said, adding that it will ensure time-bound completion of the welfare projects and that desired goals are achieved.

He said a Jan Manch would be organised in every assembly segment, especially in far flung areas, on the first Sunday of every month so that people get an opportunit­y to put forward their grievances with the government.

About the Mukhyamant­ri Swavalamba­n Yojana, the CM said, “Youth between the age group of 18 to 35 would be provided 25% investment subsidy for purchase of business equipment on loan for upto ₹40 lakh.” He said women will get 30% subsidy on the loan amount.

In addition, 5% interest subsidy would be provided on the loan to all for a period of three years.

Elaboratin­g about ‘Himachal Grihini Suvidha Yojna’, Thakur

said the scheme is for women not covered under the Ujjwala Yojana of the central government and will provide ₹3,500 for a new gas connection and stove to the women.

“The scheme will make Himachal the first state in the country where every kitchen will be smoke-free,” Thakur said.

The CM also launched guideline booklets on the three schemes.

In his address on the occasion, former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal said the present government has not only fulfilled all its promises, but has gone a step ahead by launching new initiative­s for public welfare.

Others present on the occasion were cabinet ministers in the Himachal government Kishan Kapoor; Virender Kanwar; Vipin Singh Parmar; Bikram Thakur; Ram Lal Markanda; Sarveen Chaudhary; Govind Thakur and Rajiv Saizal; MPs Virender Kashyap; Anurag Thakur and Ramswaroop Sharma, besides state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti.

DHARAMSHAL­A: Veteran BJP leader and former Union minister Shanta Kumar hailed the four-year rule of Narendra Modi-led government as ‘historic’ and full of ‘unpreceden­ted and all round progress’.

“The BJP-led government completes its four years today and these four years have been historic from developmen­t point of view,” said Shanta, in a statement issued here.

He said that the 10-year UPA rule before the BJP government was marred by corruption that earned bad named for India. “Eliminatin­g that corruption and regaining the reputation in the world was greatest achievemen­t of the current government,” he said.The welfare schemes launched by the central government are driven be a sense of Antyodya which touch the villages, farmers and poor, he said.

“A new chapter of developmen­t is being written under the Modi government,” said Shanta.

Listing the schemes, Shanta said the remarkable specialty of these schemes is that they take from rich and give to poor while focus also remains on welfare of the middle class.
