CONG OBSERVES ‘BETRAYAL DAY’

-

The Congress observed ‘Betrayal Day’ on the completion of four years of the Modi government.

Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) chief Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and leader of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Mukesh Agnihotri led a protest march in Una town.

The protesters submitted a memorandum to the governor through the deputy commissioner on the issue of rising prices of essential commodities and fuel.

Similar protest marches were held at the block level across the state.

Addressing the protesters at Una, Singh Sukhu accused Prime Minister Modi of betraying the people. “He made lots of promises four years ago but none was fulfilled,” said Sukhu. He said the prices of petrol and diesel were on a record high, LPG cylinder is available at double the price than was during the UPA regime and food products have gone out of reach of the general public.

“It has become difficult for people to make ends meet while the government is busy filling its coffers by raising the prices of commodities,” he alleged.

“People are still awaiting the ₹15 lakh Modi had promised during the 2014 elections,” he quipped. He said that all the schemes launched by the central government were big failures.

Agnihotri too took a jibe at Prime Minister Narender Modi stating that all his promises have turned out to be ‘jumlas’.

He also took on the Jai Ram Thakur-led BJP government in Himachal over deteriorating law and order and arbitrary transfers of employees. Only one thing that is on full swing is transfers of employees which has reached 50,000. HTC
