Parma under fixing scanner, says report

-

ROME: Newly-promoted Parma are under investigation for an alleged attempt to fix the match that sealed their incredible rise from financial collapse to Serie A in just three years, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The Italian Football Federation is probing claims that two Parma players sent text messages to players from Spezia ahead of their clash on the final day of the Serie B season, in which they asked opponents not to try too hard

SPAIN PROMISED RICHES

MADRID: Each member of the Spain squad will take home a win bonus of 825,000 euros ($970,200) should they lift the World Cup in Russia, a Spanish newspaper has said. Madrid-based Sports daily Marca reports that the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has incentivised the squad by offering them more than double what Germany (350,000 euros) would give their players. They would also be entitled to more than favourites Brazil (800,000 euros).

RIGHT TO PARTY

COPENHAGEN: Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio said a group of his players did nothing wrong in having a late-night party following last Saturday’s friendly against Scotland, saying they deserved “some time for themselves”.

The party, involving eight players, was made public when pictures were published in a magazine. “It was in their free time,” he said.
