JAMMU: The Eid celebrations have turned into mourning for the family of 44 RR soldier Aurangzeb, whose bullet-ridden body found last night in Pulwama, was yet to reach home at Salani village in Mendhar sub-division of Poonch district.

Aurangzeb, posted in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, was abducted by militants on Thursday and his bullet-riddled body was found late at night.

Mohammed Latief, father of the slain soldier blamed the BJP government for its weak-kneed approach towards terrorism.

“Strong initiatives are required to wipe out the scourge of terrorism from Kashmir, which are lacking. If the government has the will, it can weed out militancy,” he told media persons at his native village on Friday.

“Slogans of Kashmir’s Azadi (freedom) won’t fetch them freedom. Kashmir was an integral part of India and shall remain so,” he said. Shocked to know that their soldier son was abducted and killed brutally by terrorists from Pulwama on Thursday, a large number of people are visiting the family. Poonch deputy commissioner Mohammed Aijaz Assad and state BJP president Ravinder Raina also visited the family and expressed solidarity.

Aurangzeb’s elder brother is also in army.

Reportedly, some six to seven years ago, his uncle Abdul Rehman was also killed by militants after being abducted from Kasblari village.
