SRINAGAR: There was no sympathy for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on social media after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pulled out of coalition government in Jam mu and Kashmir.

While some said the BJP took decision keeping in view the upcoming elections, many believe it was the ‘game over’ for the PDP for their decision to continue with coalition despite the bloodshed in Kashmir valley.

“Without a scintilla of doubt, PDP-BJP Govt has been a nightmare in every aspect for J&K. It also reflects how political Party’s lust for power can land it in irreparable humiliation (sic),” a Kashmir-based youth, Nazir, tweeted.

Another Twitter user Haziq Qadri wrote, “I don't feel sorry for what happened to PDP. They are responsible for all the bloodshed in #Kashmir. 235 civilians were killed during the PDP-BJP tenure. #BJPDumpsPDP (sic).”

Faysal in a similar manner tweeted, “BJP will use this as part of their all-out Hindu-nationalist rhetoric in the elections in India. But in Kashmir, it’s game-over for PDP. Many families in Kashmir would now ask the opportunist @MehboobaMufti, how do you sleep at night? (sic)”

Jawaharlal Nehru University’s disarmament studies associate professor Happymon Jacob wrote on Facebook that the biggest loser was PDP.

“End of the PDP-BJP government in J&K: the biggest loser today is the PDP. Loser because it didn’t have the courage to withdraw from the government first; it clung to power (sic),” he wrote.

Kashmiris were angry with PDP for their decision to align with the BJP, despite knowing its particular brand of politics.

“Today, PDP'S alliance with the BJP came to an end after achieving nothing from this unholy alliance except back door entries, looting public money and giving rise to militancy in the state. Hundreds of civilians were killed, thousands were injured and blinded in last 3 years (sic),” a page, Kashmir Gazette, posted on Facebook.

Meanwhile, there are debates prevalent on the possible scenarios when the state will go for polls.

“As and when Assembly elections are held in Jammu & Kashmir, mark my words the seat count will be like this: PDP will not touch double digit, National Conference will remain below 25, if things improve for Congress in Jammu they may win 15 or so seats. The BJP will come down from 25 and settle somewhere between 18-21 seats and Sajjad Lone led new emerging front may win 10-12 seats. It will be a direct contest for CM post between Omar Abdullah and Sajjad Lone backed by the BJP (sic),” wrote another Facebook user.

“As of now holding elections in Kashmir looks a Herculean task,” he added.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah was critical of the Mehbooba’s statement about muscular policy.

“What’s with this “new muscular policy for Kashmir” discourse that’s sought to be created? Was what Mehbooba oversaw as CM any less muscular? She was unapologetic for all the pain & suffering in 2016 and after (sic),” he tweeted.
