The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to Patanjali Ayurved Ltd to transfer its land to its subsidiary company in Greater Noida for setting up a ~6,000 crore mega food park.

The subleasing is to be done by Patanjali’s special purpose vehicle (SPV) Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Noida Pvt. Ltd.

Addressing the media, UP ministers Sidharth Nath Singh and Satish Mahana said, “The cabinet has decided to add the name of Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Noida Pvt Ltd to the 455 acre land allotted to Patanjali.”

“Patanjali has been given 25% discount and allowed to sublease 20% of the allotted land,” said infrastructure and industrial development commissioner (IIDC) Anoop Chandra Pandey.

On March 23, 2018, Patanjali Ayurved Ltd had requested the state government that 91 acres of its land (out of 455 acre) be transferred to its subsidiary Patanjali Food and Herbal Park to set up a food park for which the Centre had granted in principle approval earlier this year.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had to intervene when Patanjali Ayurved Ltd threatened to shift the food park out of UP if it was not allowed to transfer land to its subsidiary. The state government had requested the Centre to extend the deadline, set by the inter-ministerial approval committee (IMAC) for Patanjali to get the final approval, from June 15 to June 30. In a letter dated June 12 sent to union secretary, food processing, JP Meena, IIDC Anoop Chandra Pandey had referred to the deadline given to Patanjali to seek the state government’s approval to set up a food park.

“It is requested that the IMAC deadline be extended from June 15 to June 30 to enable the state government to grant final approval (to the food park),” the letter said.
