Married woman found dead at paramour’s house in Panipat

-

Body of a 27-year-old woman was allegedly found hanging with a ceiling fan at the rented room of her alleged paramour in Desraj colony of Panipat city on Thursday.

The family members of deceased Shivani, who was said to be 8 months pregnant, accused her paramour Mohit, 24, of killing her and hanging her body to pass it as suicide.

According to the police, Shivani, who hailed from Jalandhar district of Punjab, had married Jonny Chawla of Sukhdev Nagar of Panipat about two years ago. She had strained relations with her husband and reportedly had an affair with Mohit, a resident of Desraj colony, who is unmarried.

Panipat Quila police station in-charge Balwan Singh said the police have registered a case of murder (under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code) against Mohit and started investigations. He said efforts were on to arrest the accused.

However, the police said the possibility of suicide cannot be ruled out. They said the actual cause of death could be ascertained only after the postmortem report.

According to her family members, she went missing on Thursday morning and when she did not return home, they started searching her. Later, they found her body hanging in Mohit’s room. But Mohit was not present there.

They said they traced her body with the help of her mobile location and her call details.

Shivani’s cousin Rahul, who came from Jalandhar, alleged that Mohit has also taken away Shivani’s ornaments.

Police said the body of the deceased was handed over to her family after postmortem.
