Excise dept flashes photos of top 50 VAT defaulters on website, 33 from Gurugram

THE DEPARTMENT HAS ALSO PREPARED A DISTRICTWISE LIST OF 6,091 VAT DEALERS IN STATE HAVING ARREARS ABOVE RS 5 LAKH

The department of excise and taxation of Haryana has identified 6,091 VAT dealers in the state, who have arrears of above Rs 5 lakh and have uploaded the photographs of over top 50 defaulters, of which 33 are from Gurugram.

Additional chief secretary, excise and taxation, Sanjeev Kaushal, informed on Friday in Chandigarh that action had been taken on the directions of public accounts committee (PAC) in the report of CAG 2012-13.

It was also desired by the PAC that the names of these defaulters should be published in newspapers for which action is being taken.

He said that a district-wise list of 6,091 VAT dealers in the state having arrears above Rs 5 lakh has been prepared by the department.

Of these, the highest number 1423 defaulters is from Gurugram.

Giving a bifurcation of district wise, the officer said there are 481 defaulters in Gurugram (east), 275 in Gurugram (west), 350 in Gurugram (north), 317 in Gurugram (south).

Across the state the number of defaulters is 411 in Ambala, 136 in Bhiwani, 206 in Faridabad (east), 252 in Faridabad (west), 404 in Faridabad (north), 130 in Faridabad (south), 185 in Karnal, 125 in Kaithal, 59 in Kurukshetra, 47 in Fatehabad, 179 in Hisar, 295 in Jhajjar, 311 in Jagadhri, 59 in Jind, 67 in Mewat, 477 in Panchkula, 26 in Palwal, 188 in Panipat, 31 in Ma hen drag a rh( N ar naul ),138 in Rewari, 83 in Rohtak, 126 in Sirsa and 733 in Sonepat.
