Repair work: 21 passenger, 30 express trains cancelled
Northern Railways has announced the cancellation of 30 mail and express trains and 21 passenger trains due to noninterlocking work at Amritsar yard.The trains running from July 19 to 31 will be affected.
The authority has sanctioned a plan of six days, pre-non interlocking work, from July 19 to 24 and seven days, non-interlocking work, from July 25 to 31.
Also, 27 mail/ express trains and 14 passenger trains will be short terminated or short originated.
As per the official notice, during this period, no goods trains, military special trains will be received or dispatched at and from Amritsar station. Moreover, no special train from/to or via Amritsar will be allowed during this period.
The authorities have also demanded the restriction on the parcel traffic in Amritsar.
Divisional railway manager, Ferozepur division, Vivek Kumar said, “We are trying to put minimum traffic load on Amritsar railway station.” He said, after non interlocking work, two platforms will be constructed at Amritsar railway station which will reduce the rush of passengers.”
AGRICULTURAL LABOURERS BLOCK RAIL TRACKS AT FEROZEPUR
FEROZEPUR: Hundreds of agricultural labourers blocked the Ferozepur-Bathinda railway level crossing on Thursday evening, to protest against alleged police inaction into an episode of atrocity on farmers, which took place about two months ago.
On the third day of the protest, agitators led by kissan mazdoor sangarsh committee, threatened to block the railway tracks in case of a failure to register a case.
