AAP’S RUPNAGAR MLA SANDOA CHARGED WITH MOLESTATION
: A local court on Friday framed charges against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s state legislator from Rupnagar Amarjit Singh Sandoa in a case relating to alleged molestation of his former landlady.
The court of Rupnagar chief judicial magistrate Pooja Andotra framed charges under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 294 (obscene acts and songs), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509(word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 323(voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
While allowing Sandoa’s application to visit abroad, the court dismissed his plea for discharging him from the case and conducting his brain mappping or narco analysis test.
Sandoa was booked on his former landlady’s complaint on July 29 last year. The woman claimed Sandoa was her tenant till April that year and left without paying the rent and utility bills for a month.
When the woman visited Sandoa along with a relative on July 28, he allegedly abused and shoved her besides catching hold of her hand and dupatta. The complaint further stated that the MLA threatened to kill the woman if she asked for her money again.
A special investigation team formed by the Rupnagar senior superintendent of police had found the allegations true, following which a challan was filed against Sandoa in the court.
