Amritsar, Tarn Taran cops nab 19 under NDPS Act in one day
In total, the police teams of both border districts have seized 4,501 drug pills, capsules and 264gm heroin
Under the anti-drug mission of the Punjab government, the Amritsar and Tarn Taran police continued the crackdown on drug peddlers in the region. The police have arrested as many as 19 persons under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on Sunday.
Most of the peddlers have been caught with medicinal drugs, while in two of the cases, police have also recovered heroin. In total, the police teams have seized 4,501 drug medicines and 264gm heroin.
As per the daily crime report (DCR) of Tarn Taran police, Sarhali police have arrested Paramjit Singh with 130 drug pills, Khemkaran police held Chanan Singh with 760 drug capsules, Kacha Pakka police have nabbed Sukhchain Singh of Margindpura village with 2771 drug pills, Bhikhiwind police have arrested three accused — Jagdeep Singh, Mandeep Singh and Sonu — while they were snorting heroin.
As per the DCR of Amritsar rural police, Ajnala police have arrested Gurbakshish Singh of Lakhuwal village with 110 drug pills, Kambo police have nabbed Jobanpreet Singh of Rampura village with 280 drug pills, and Jhander police held Kuldeep Singh and Sajan, both of Bath village, with 105 drug pills.
Also, Bhindi Saida police have arrested Kala Singh and Karaj Singh, both of Ghogha village, with 30 drug pills and 2gm heroin respectively, Kathunangal police have nabbed Raman Kumar of Pakhrpura village with 200 drug pills, Majitha police caught Jaspal Singh of Sohian Kalan village with 55 drug pills, and Jandiala police held Baljit Singh of Shekhupura village with 60 drug pills.
As per the DCR of the Amritsar police commissionerate, the Ranjit Avenue police have arrested Khushwinder Singh and Gursharan Singh, both of Batala, with 5kg heroin.
TWO HELD WITH 257GM HEROIN
The Ranjit Avenue police, in a separate case, have also arrested Inderbir Singh of Fateh Singh Colony and Surjit Singh
of Thantal village with 257gm heroin. Accused have confessed that following the instructions of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, who is lodged in Hoshiarpur jail, they had smuggled 35kg heroin, worth ₹175 crore in the international market, in a year.
The accused in all cases have been booked under Sections 21/61/85 and 22/61/85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
