: More than a month after controversial former vigilance SSP Shiv Kumar Sharma was booked again for implicating patwari Mohan Singh in a graft case in 2012, Sharma joined renewed investigation at the Ferozepur SSP office on Saturday morning.

Local revenue patwaris and kanungos raised slogans outside the SSP office, as Sharma, who had once questioned Capt Amarinder Singh in a disproportionate assets case when he was not the CM, made his way to the room of SP (headquarters) in the complex. The new Congress regime reordered investigation in the case on a complaint from the victim, Mohan Singh.

Sharma had been given a clean chit in 2013. Three other former SSPs Surinderpal Singh Virk, Jaspal Singh and SS Grewal, who also had got a clean chit, were again named as the accused in the case that was originally registered at Mallanwala in 2012.

On July 14 this year, Ferozepur IG Gurwinder Singh Dhillon said in his report, “I find that there is no basis in giving a clean chit to these officials. I recommend an inquiry against Raghbir Singh Sandhu, who had given them the clean chit.”

WHAT IS THE CASE

On November 19, 2009, Sharma asked patwari Mohan Singh to provide him the revenue record of his land in Rurki village of Fatehgarh Sahib. Mohan Singh delivered a copy of the record to the officer and asked for the government fee of ₹20, but SSP Sharma refused to give him the money and later booked the patwari in a graft case related to missing paddy in PUNSUP, and tortured and stripped him.
