Capt reluctant to deliver justice to Sikhs: Ex-jathedar
Leading the protest staged by the Sikh bodies against state government’s inaction in Bargari sacrilege and Behbal Kalan killings, former Takht Damdama Sahib jathedar Giani Kewal Singh on Wednesday said, “Like Parkash Singh Badal, Captain Amarinder Singh is also reluctant to deliver justice to the Sikh community.”
Hundreds of the Sikh activists staged a protest on Bhandari bridge seeking action according to recommendations of the Justice Ranjit Singh commission report that was constituted to probe into the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Bargari village and killing of two Sikh protesters in Behbal Kalan of Faridkot district.
Raising question over Capt Amarinder Singh’s move to hand over the probe of Behbal Kalan killings to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Kewal Singh, who is also the convener of Panthic Talmel Sangathan, said, “This is nothing but a tactic to rescue the police officials whose names cropped up as accused.”
“Before the assembly elections, Captain Amarinder Singh had promised to bring the culprits of the sacrilege incidents to book. Neither he is acting as per recommendations of the Ranjit panel report, nor making the report public,” said Jaswinder Singh, president of Akal Purakh Ki Fauj and a former SGPC member.
Cornering the chief minister on the issue, another Sikh leader Kuljit Singh said Captain was deceiving the Sikh community by such acts.
