2 out of 6 accused held for gangrape in Yamunanaga­r

AS PER THE COMPLAINT, THE WOMAN, AN ARMYMAN’S WIFE, WAS ALONE IN THE HOUSE AS HER HUSBAND WAS IN DAILY FOR IDAY DUTY

KARNAL: The Yamunanaga­r police arrested two of the six accused from Bilaspur on Sunday, who were booked for the gangrape of a 36-year-old woman on the intervenin­g night of August 5 and 6.

The arrested accused were identified as Najir Khan of Naiwali village and Kasim of Budi village of Yamunanaga­r. Police said two other accused have been identified as Majid Khan and Kala, and investigat­ion was going to identify the remaining accused, as their names were not mentioned in the complaint.

Bilaspur police station in-charge Ramesh Chand said, “Those arrested have admitted their involvemen­t in the crime.” He said that they were produced in a court and sent to two days police remand for further interrogat­ion.

As per the police, Najir was the main culprit in the case according to the victim.

As per the complaint, the victim was alone in her house as her husband was in Delhi for his duty for Independen­ce Day programme, when four people, including Najir (known to the victim), forcibly entered her house on the intervenin­g night of August 5 and 6 and raped her. They also threatened her of dire consequenc­es if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

Then again the next day, Najir reached her house and forced her to go with them on a motorcycle on pistol point. They took her to a deserted place where he, along with five others, raped her, the victim said in her complaint.

As per informatio­n, the victim is a mother of three and her eldest daughter is 17-year-old. The victim remained traumatise­d for two days after which, she decided to file a police complaint and reached the police station with the village sarpanch.

The police said an FIR was registered under Sections 376 D (gangrape), 452 (house-trespass after preparatio­n for hurt, assault or wrong¬ful restraint) and 506 (criminal intimidati­on) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
