‘ATTACK’ ON CS: POLICE SAY AAP MLAS ACTED WITH ‘COMMON INTENT’

: The Delhi Police told a city court on Saturday that chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and other Aam Aadmi Party MLAs allegedly assaulted chief secretary Anshu Prakash at the February 19 meeting with the “common intention” of pressuring him “to act in a certain manner”, leading to a situation where one person was cornered by 13 people.

SRINAGAR : Jammu and Kashmir police busted three hideouts, recovered weapons and arrested four militant helpers in south Kashmir where three policemen and a political worker were killed by suspected militants on Eid.

Police said they recovered incriminat­ing material with arms and ammunition after finding three hideouts in the region’s Pulwama district. One hideout was in a house in Rajpora Litter.

A police spokesman said from the house at Rajpora, they arrested a key over-groundwork­er (OGW), a police term for a militant helper. The spokesman said an improvised explosive device (IED) material was recovered from the hideout.

In another occurrence, two hideouts were busted in Khallen and Tahab villages of Pulwama. “From these hideouts, an AK magazine, one Insas magazine and a UBGL was recovered. Three accused who were working for outlawed terror outfit HM group were arrested,” the spokesman said.

Three policemen, including two from Pulwama, were killed by gunmen in separate incidents across south Kashmir on Wednesday when Muslims were celebratin­g Eid. Police blamed the militants for the killings.

A Bharatiya Janata Party worker was kidnapped by suspected militants on Tuesday and his bullet riddled body was found in wee hours in Pulwama on Wednesday.

On Thursday, police said militants shot dead a forest department official in Kunzer area of Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In response, a foreign Jaish-eMohammed ultra was killed by security forces in a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Anantnag on Friday. The escalation in violence came as there was a change of governor in the state.

Satya Pal Malik was sworn-in as the 13th governor of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday replacing NN Vohra, who has held the post since 2008.

The state has been under governor’s rule since June 20 after the Bharatiya Janata Party pulled out of coalition government with the Peoples Democratic Party.
