POLITICAL PARTIES WILL CORNER EACH OTHER OVER JUSTICE RANJIT SINGH COMMISSION’S REPORT TO BE TABLED IN PUNJAB VIDHAN SABHA

AMRITSAR: A day before the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission’s report is to be tabled in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, leaders of ruling Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) are likely to target each other at Rakhar Puniya Mela, on Sunday.

The mela will be held at Baba Bakala village of the district.

The political parties are expected to spar over the commission’s report on the probe conducted in sacrilege cases of Guru Granth Sahib in the state.

For decades, the political parties have been organising conferences to target vote banks.

From SAD, president and former deputy chief minister (CM) Sukhbir Singh Badal, former minister and Majitha MLA Bikram Singh Majithia, Khadoor Sahib MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura will address the conference.

Gurdaspur member Parliament (MP) and Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar is likely to be present in the fair on behalf of the ruling party.

From Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Lok Sabha MP, Bhagwant Mann and Sunam MLA Aman Arora will also be present.

The AAP conference is being organised under the supervision of party’s Majha in-charge Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal. Notably, the rebel faction led by Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira will boycott the AAP conference.

However, Pargat Singh Chugawan, leader of the faction, said that they will attend the fair only to pay obeisance at the gurdwara.

Notably, the mela is considered to be second biggest event in Majha region after the Gurgaddi Diwas of second Sikh master Guru Angad Dev at Khadoor Sahib in Tarn Taran.
