In less than 24 hours after her father filed a complaint accusing 10 men of kidnapping and molesting her, the 13-year-old Panipat girl has taken a U-turn and claimed that she cooked up the story to get rid of studies. “The girl has denied the allegations of her kidnapping and molestation when the police recorded her statement before a magistrate,” Panipat DSP said.

KARNAL: In less than 24 hours after her father filed a police complaint accusing 10 men of allegedly kidnapping and molesting her, the 13-year-old Panipat girl has taken a U-turn and claimed that she cooked up the story to get rid of studies.

“The girl has denied the allegations of her kidnapping and molestation when the police recorded her statement before a magistrate,” Panipat deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Jagdeep Doon told Hindustan Times.

He said that in her statement, the girl claimed that her mother used to force her to study hard, so she cooked up this story. She said she disappeared from her home soon after she came from the school on Monday and went to the fields. When her family members came there while searching her, she pretended to be unconscious and later claimed that she was kidnapped and raped.

However, the police are still investigating the case to find out why her father filed the fake complaint, alleging that she was kidnapped in a black car by 10 people, who made her sniff some intoxicants and molested her in the fields.

Notably, the Panipat police had registered a first information report (FIR) under Sections 354 A, 365 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Samalkha police station against 10 persons, including one Mohit Kumar. The DSP said the investigation was started immediately, but they did not get any clue about the accused and the black car. Also, the family members of the girl did not agree for her medical examination till Monday evening.
