Called antinational, agitated professor offers to touch ABVP activists’ feet

A video showing a professor at a college in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur running after Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists to allow him to touch their feet has gone viral on the social media.

Professor Dinesh Gupta did so after the activists allegedly called him anti-national for stopping them from raising slogans near his class at Rajiv Gandhi Government Post-graduate Degree.

The activists are seen running away to avoid the embarrassment of the professor touching their feet in the video.

A member of the administration said the activists were raising the slogans under ABVP district president Pawan Sharma’s leadership on Wednesday in a protest against the delay in the declaration of examinations results.

The activists demanded an apology from Gupta in the college principal’s chamber. When the professor refused to apologise, the activists started following him and prompted him to offer to touch their feet. Sharma denied any knowledge of the incident.

“None of the activists called the professor anti-national. Gupta was in an agitated mood and he started touching the activists’ feet to create a scene on the campus,” said ABVP national executive member Ankit Garg.

Professor Dinesh Gupta, who went on a three-day leave after the incident, told journalists that he is far more patriotic than them.
