In the second room, students used to keep their bags,” school principal Darshan Singh said, adding, “We have written to the district education officer (secondary) on the incident and also sought funds for constructing new classrooms.”

DEO (secondary) Baljit Kaur Brar said, “I have received information of the mishap and will be taking up the matter with my seniors.”

Angry villagers slammed the government for its carelessness and demanded that a regular survey should be conducted.
