KARNAL: Taking a dig at the family of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash Chautala in the wake of recent infighting in it, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday said it is people who finally decide about their leaders.

“It is their family matter but I would say that leaders of political parties are answerable to the public and they should not indulge in such fights,” Khattar said when asked to comment over the fissures within the Chautala family.

“Public was the supreme referee in the political ‘dangal’ (wrestling) and it would decide the (winning) ‘pehalwan’. There is no need to fight over leadership as the politicians who win hearts of people with their honesty emerge as the real winners,” he said. SKIPS QUERY ON RUMOURS ABOUT DUSHYANT JOINING BJP Khattar, however, skipped the question about the rumours that INLD MP Dushyant Chautala may join BJP, saying this question should be asked to Dushyant.

Addressing a gathering at the state-level annual wrestling competition here, Khattar said politics is also like a ‘dangal’ (wrestling) as politicians also play like wrestlers after every five years and every leaders strives to win, but people would elect the politicians who win their hearts.

“But honesty is must in both wrestling and politics,” he added.
