DHARAMSHALA: It has been over six months of struggle for the mothers, whose kids were killed in a school bus accident, to get justice for their children.

Twenty four children of Wazir Ram Singh Pathania Memorial Public School were killed when the school bus ferrying them skidded off road and fell into a deep gorge in Malkwal village of Nurpur sub-division in Kangra district on April 9.

The mothers have knocked almost every door from district administration to high court but no avail.

The mothers have now penned an emotional letter to the wives of the legislators invoking their motherhood and hoping that at least they will ensure justice for them. “Dear sisters, we are the mothers of children killed in Nurpur school bus accident. We will not talk about facts but pray to you with folded hands, please get justice for our kids,” read the opening lines of the letter.

“You too are mothers. You have same heart of mothers as we have. The only difference is that our husbands are not influential as yours,” they wrote.

“Untimely death snatched away our children and we are now struggling to know the reason. We don’t believe the reason government has given. Since, you also are mothers and can understand our pain, we believe only you can get justice for us,” the letter read. The mothers wrote, every morning some of them still pack the lunch box for their children. Our demand is not such, they further wrote, that cannot be fulfilled; your husbands are in the government, convince them.

“We are sharing our agony. Perhaps, government will wake up if you help us. Please! Don’t let our faith die like our children,” the letter concluded.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference at Dharamshala on Friday the families said that they just want to know the exact reason of the accident. “Some people say the driver of the bus got a heart attack but government probe report has no such mention,” said Suraksha Devi, who lost her four grandchildren in the accident. She said that the stretch of the road where accident took place was in bad shape but no action was taken against the officials responsible for it. “Our demand of CBI probe was also turned down by the government,” said Manoj Kumari, who lost her kid in the mishap. The victims’ families said that they will approach PM Narendra Modi if state government fails to heed to their demand of CBI probe.
