Haryana’s film policy launched
first ever film policy, which is expected to make the state a conducive destination for filmmakers, was launched by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar in the city on Friday.
The government, which has been working on the policy for the last two years with the objective of promoting Haryanvi cinema, formed this policy to provide security for filmmaking, promote key shooting points, curbing illegal display and piracy of movies, organising state movie awards, and preserving and restoring Haryanvi films and film-related material.
“There has been a demand for the last 25-30 years for a movie policy to be made in Haryana. Movies have the power to build characters, develop personalities and bridge gaps,” said Khattar.
Khattar launched the policy in the presence of actors Raj Kumar Rao and Meghna Malik, Miss World Manushi Chillar, and actor-director Satish Kaushik, who has spearheaded the policymaking process.
As mentioned in the policy, the soon-to-be-formed Haryana Film Cell (HFC) will be the governing committee for the policy and will have an executive committee comprising government officers, professionals, and experts from the film industry.
The film policy will lead to a single window clearance for all national and international film production houses in a span of not more than seven working days. This will also include getting police clearances and receiving security cover for filming free of cost.
The clearances can be sought by the filmmakers or the production house by submitting an online application on the HEPC (Haryana Enterprise Promotion Centre) website.
The policy also enlists that the HFC will organize state film awards for best movie, actors, director, short films and several other categories. Annual film festivals will also be organized in the state showcasing regional, national and international films.
Further for developing infrastructure, the state government will assist in the establishment of film and TV studios across Haryana to facilitate production and post-production processes. HTC
