Teachers deserve better

teacher is like a candle — it consumes itself just to light the way of others.”

A teacher plays the most important role in an individual’s life after parents. A teacher is the one who spots the potential and nurtures the talent of each and every child.

He/she not only teaches important lessons which stay with us when we are in school, but also the crucial lessons of life.

Teachers have equal love, trust and faith for every student. They do not consider any student superior or inferior than another.

I don’t understand that what makes students think that teachers discriminate them in terms of grades. Grades are just another way of showing children their performance and areas of improvement.

Students are given grades so that they discuss their weakness with teachers and improve them. Students, however, take it the wrong way and think the process as a way of creating divide among students.

Students in their junior years tend to be more influenced by negative things. Thus, they end up dwelling upon thoughts of making teachers feel the way they feel and therefore grade them among their groups. It should not be the job of a student to grade teachers but the authorities should look into such matters.

Students think that only a student can give real grades while they must totally focus on the responsibilities and work that they have been assigned. A constructive feedback on teaching skills of a teacher can be expected by students, but grading them and showing them their weakness must not be encouraged.

Parents and the institution they study in must also look after such activities of students. A teacher can’t be judged by people who do not know how difficult and challenging their profession is.

They make us who we are. They deserve their share of respect and gratitude, today and always. Grading them is like grading our parents. We don’t do that, do we?
