Slam door on fast food

-

“Prohibitive tax knocked on the door. Coke smiled at Pepsi and said dude now we will get more time together.”

Consumption of junk food and sugary drinks is increasing both in urban and rural areas due to ease of availability, aggressive marketing and advertisements which make them popular with children and adolescents.

Hundreds of fast food restaurants have mushroomed across the country.

These led to metabolic changes and obesity. The fact that age of onset of obesity is

25-30 years now speaks for itself.

If excessive tax is imposed on fast food, public will be aware as to why certain food products are being taxed. Also, as the cost will increase, it will immediately discourage consumption of junk.

This tax will provide an increased revenue stream, which may help to overcome the financial crisis.

There will always be individual stories describing negative outcomes from any taxation proposal, but this tax can be an an equity neutral proposition.

We should applaud those leaders who keep well-being of their people at the forefront in a productive manner. Time has come to slam door on junk food which is hazardous for health before it is too late. “The story continued. Pepsi replied that brother let’s see if the government opens the door.”
