Mumbai City FC heap more misery on Delhi Dynamos

MUMBAI: It was a contest between two of the country’s biggest metros; it was also a meeting of two teams struggling to find their feet in the Indian Super League. But the home side, Mumbai City, managed to beat Delhi Dynamos 2-0 at the Mumbai Football Arena on Saturday and register their second win of the season.

Goals from Modou Sougou and Arnold Issoko in either half sealed full points for Mumbai, who can now leave their 5-0 thumping at the hands of FC Goa behind them. Dynamos, meanwhile, remain third from bottom with just three points from their five games in this campaign.

PUNE FACE FC GOA

FC Pune City have a tough job on their hands as they make their journey to FC Goa to take on the in-form hosts in the Indian Super League here on Sunday.

Not only are they playing against a team which just blew Mumbai City FC to smithereen­s in a 5-0 rout, they have also decided to part ways with coach Miguel Angel Portugal.

IMPHAL/KOZHIKODE: Visitors East Bengal notched a comfortabl­e 2-0 win over Neroca FC in the I-League here Saturday, with Mexican recruit Enrique Esqueda scoring both the goals.

In another game in Kozhikode, Mohun Bagan were held to a 1-1 draw by Gokulam Kerala.

On Sunday, title holders Minerva Punjab will host Churchill Brothers.

In Shillong, Lajong will take on former champions Aizawl FC.
