:Senior Akali Dal leaders from Khadoor Sahib constituency have put a spoke in the wheel of rebel MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, who had given a call for a ‘show of strength‘ rally at Chohla Sahib in Tarn Taran on November 3.

A number of senior leaders, including former acting SGPC president (Brahmpura’s nephew) Alwinderpal Singh Pakhoke, SGPC general secretary and senior SAD leader Gurbachan Singh Karmuwala, SAD’s national vice-president Ramandeep Singh Bharowal, said on Tuesday that “the MP has been conspiring to weaken the party with the help of some people”.

Talking to media, Pakhoke said, “When SAD had formed government in Punjab in 2012, Brahmpura praised party president Sukhbir Badal. And after enjoying hospitality for 10 years, he has been pointing fingers at the party leadership.”

Brahmpura, along with former MP Rattan Singh Ajnala and ex-minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan, had held a press conference on September 30 saying, “all is not well in the Akali Dal” under the leadership of Sukhbir. He then resigned from all party posts and declared to not contest any election in future.

Pakhoke appealed to the SAD workers of Khadoor Sahib segment not to attend Brahmpura’s rally in Chohla Sahib. Karmuwala said, “Entire rank and file of the party in the constituency is with the party and no worker will side with Brahmpura.”

Ravinder Brahmpura said, “Those who raised a banner of revolt against my father are hungry for posts in the party. We will hold the Chohla Sahib rally and thousands of people will take part in it.”
