‘Cong will launch protest if cases against BJP leaders dropped’
: Himachal Pradesh Congress party chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday said the opposition party will vehemently resist government’s move to drop cases of “corruption” registered against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the previous Congress regime.
“As many as 27 BJP leaders are facing many cases. We have learnt that the government has proposed to drop cases against them,” sate party chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in Shimla on Tuesday.
He added, “Not only the party will adopt a legal course but will take to streets in case the government withdraws cases of corruption against BJP leaders.”
Congress also castigated the BJP rule and claimed that law and order situation in the state had deteriorated ever since chief minister Jai Ram Thakur assumed office nine months back.
Sukhu claimed there was also an increase in cases of theft, robberies and murders in the state. The Congress president announced to bring a chargesheet against chief minister Jai Ram Thakur-led government.
“The CM announced mega celebrations on one-year rule of his government. When government complete its one year in office we will submit a chargesheet. A committee comprising office bearers will be constituted to frame charges against the government,” he added.
Alleging that the government has failed on several fronts, Sukhu said, “When Jai Ram was sworn in, people had expectations, but he has failed to live up to them.”
He added that bad conditions of roads, deteriorating law and order will be other main issues incorporated in the chargesheet.
Sukhu also accused the CM of failing to control his ministers.
“Jai Ram has no control over his ministers. They are making haywire statement to divert attention of people,” Sukhu further said.
