Minor held for raping 3yearold girl in Jind

Victim’s father caught the accused sexually assaulting his daughter in a vacant plot and called the police

The Jind police arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl in the city. The incident took place on Wednesday when the victim was playing outside her house. The police said the accused boy lured the victim on some pretext and took her to a secluded plot nearby where he sexually assaulted her. The police said the father of the victim saw the accused assaulting his daughter and caught him on the spot.

Jind police arrested a 15-year-old boy for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl in the city. The incident took place on Wednesday when the victim was playing outside her house.

The police said the accused boy lured the victim on some pretext and took her to a secluded plot nearby where he sexually assaulted her. The police said the father of the victim saw the accused assaulting his daughter and caught him on the spot.

He then informed the police and lodged a complaint. Investigat­ion officer Prema Devi said they arrested the accused and booked him under Section 6 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

He was produced in the court on Thursday that sent him to a juvenile justice home in Hisar.

MINOR ABDUCTED, RAPED FOR 2 DAYS

In another incident from a village in Jind’s Narwana township, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped for two days by a man in her neighborho­od

who held her hostage at his house. The police said the victim was kidnapped on Monday when she was sleeping at her house.

The victim said she managed to flee from the accused’s house on Wednesday, following which she reached the police station and lodged a complaint.

The police said they have booked the accused, identified as Deepak Kumar, under Sections 342 (wrongful confinemen­t) and 506 (criminal intimidati­on) of the Indian Penal Code and under Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

Inspector Mahender Singh, the SHO of Narwana sadar police station, said the accused was arrested on Thursday evening from the outskirts of the city when he was trying to flee the district. The

SHO said they will produce the accused in court on Friday.

The two incidents from Jind come barely a week after a minor girl was allegedly gangraped by six men in the district. The victim in the incident was gagged and thrown in a pond with her hands tied. She had survived the assault.
