A man from Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh, who was booked for rape by Rohtak police on Sunday on a complaint of a city-based woman, has registered a counter-complaint against her for holding him hostage and blackmailing him for money.

Bhatia said he came to Rohtak on October 20 and met the woman, who took him to her friend’s house on Jhajjar Chowk.

They allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from him or else threatened to lodge a rape case against him. He said to save himself, he agreed to pay them Rs 10 lakh. They took his two ATM cards and mobile phones and immediately withdrew Rs 16,000 from his account, and let him leave asking him to credit the remaining sum within two days.
