Doctor booked for submitting forged medical certificate

- HT Correspondent letterschd@hindustantimes.com n

court of additional sessions judge on Thursday ordered Jalandhar police to register a case against a doctor for producing forged and fabricated medical certificate before the court to mislead the court.

The accused has been identified as Dr Amandeep Gill, BAMS, working in Robin hospital at Jandiala village in Jalandhar.

Additional session judge Parminder Singh Grewal ordered Navi Baradari police here to name the petitioner Harpreet Singh of Jandiala village in the case, who applied for an exemption for the personal appearance in a case of anticipatory bail after producing a fake medical certificate.

As per the orders, Harpreet on August 29 had submitted a medical certificate issued by Dr Amandeep to get exemption for personal appearance during an anticipatory bail hearing in a case registered against him under Sections 399 (making preparation to commit dacoity), 402 (assembling for purpose of committing dacoity) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act.

He produced the certificate that he was admitted at the hospital.

However, during the inquiry by the police on the orders of the court, it was found that the accused was not admitted to the hospital as claimed in the medical certificate.

The court mentioned that as per the police inquiry and the statement of hospital owner Kiran Bala, it seems that Dr Amandeep stole the stamp of the hospital to prepare the forged medical certificate.

The court directed the district police to register a case under Section 379 (theft), 465 (punishment for forgery), 466 (forgery of record of court or of public register) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC ) against both the accused.

DURING THE INQUIRY, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ACCUSED WAS NOT ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL AS CLAIMED IN MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
