3 Delhi residents killed as car falls into gorge in HP

Three persons were killed and two others injured when a car rolled down into a gorge in Shilai sub-division of Sirmaur district on Monday . The deceased have been identified as Rahul , 26, Vishal Kumar, 22, Narayan Singh alias Sonu, 36, all residents of Delhi.

SHIMLA: Three people were killed and two others injured when a car carrying passengers from New Delhi fell into a gorge near Loraha village in Shilai sub-division of Sirmaur district on Sunday night.

The deceased have been identified as Rahul,26, Vishal Kumar, 22, Narayan Singh alias Sonu, 36. The injured — Gianinder Mann, 36, and Ali Hussain, 24 — have been referred to a government hospital in Paonta Sahib.

According to the police, incident took place when the driver of Swift Dzire, going towards Shilai from Delhi, lost control over the vehicle.

Accident occurred on Sunday night. Police said that Narayan Singh and Vishal Kumar died on the spot while Rahul succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital in Poanta Sahib. A passerby noticed vehicle rolling down the gorge and reported the matter to police .

Assistant sub-inspector of Shilai police station Dalip Singh said police with the help of locals and commuters launched a rescue operation. He said the deceased were sent for postmortem and injured were taken to the primary health centre in Shilai, from where they were referred to Paonta Sahib.

He said a case was registered under 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt and endangerin­g life) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC. “The car collided with the hill before falling into the gorge,” he said.
