Insaaf Party (LIP) supremo Simarjeet Singh Bains on Monday welcomed the offer of expelled Akali veterans Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Rattan Singh Ajnala and Sewa Singh Sekhwan who invited the party to join hands with them, saying he will take a decision on this after discussing the proposal with all stakeholders.

The taksali leaders on Sunday had announced to float a new political outfit based on the Akali Dal’s constitution, which was framed in 1920. Talking to HT on the sidelines of a party workers’ meeting, Bains, who is also an MLA, said, “As such, we welcome the offer of Khadoor Sahib MP Brahmhpura and other leaders. We liked the idea of floating an outfit based on the Akali Dal’s old constitution. The day is not far when Sukhbir Badal and his sidekicks will be buried under anonymity.”

SUPPORTS SIDHU, SLAMS ‘AMARINDER COTERIE’

Coming out in support of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Sidhu, Bains flayed the move of installing “Sadda captain” hoardings as a cheap tactic of chief minister Amarinder Singh’s coterie of ministers who are feeling threatened by Sidhu’s rise.

The hoardings were installed in the city after a controversy over Sidhu’s remarks in which he described Congress president Rahul Gandhi as his captain and Amarinder Singh as captain of the army. Bains said Amarinder is feeling threatened by Sidhu’s growing popularity after his Kartarpur visit.

“Word is doing the rounds that the party high command is happy with Sidhu’s working and wants to replace Amarinder Singh with him as CM,” he said.
