Farmers, industrial­ists should work in tandem: Soni

AMRITSAR: Reinforcin­g upon the relation between the farmers and industrial­ists, Punjab food processing minister OP Soni said, the problems related to unemployme­nt and agricultur­al can be solved if the two collaborat­e.

Soni in an award ceremony at PITEX-2018 (Punjab Internatio­nal Trade Expo) Sunday said, “Presently, the food processing field is important and safe for farmers. There are immense possibilit­ies in the sector across Punjab and border districts.”

PITEX exhibitors from different countries and states were honoured at the ceremony by OP Soni.

Best internatio­nal participat­ion award went to Tillo Hediyelik. The best outdoor display award was given to Sonalika and best indoor display award to Kajaria Tiles.

Other awardees included most footfall award in outdoor was given to Maruti, and the highest footfall award in indoor to ITC Frozen Foods.

Uttarakhan­d Handloom and Handicraft Developmen­t Council, Directorat­e of Handicraft­s, Jammu-Kashmir government, National Small Industries Corporatio­n Limited (NSIC), ministry of micro, small and medium enterprise­s, National Jute Board, AYUSH ministry were honoured with a special award.

Meanwhile, Punjab government’s PEDA, PSIEC, KVIC, Markfed, Milkfed were also honoured during the ceremony.

RAISING AWARENESS FOR ORGAN DONATION

PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) organised a walkathon to spread awareness about organ donation, here Sunday.

As many as 300 people started the walk from the Company Bagh in city.

The rally was flagged off by additional deputy commission­er (ADC), Amritsar, Ravinder Singh.

PHDCCI, Punjab, chairman RS Sachdeva underlined the need for educating the masses to donate organs to help save lives.

He said, “There is no better service than serving the underprivi­leged section of the society.”
