Jalandhar teacher arrested for abetting Class-10 girl’s suicide

THE GIRL LEFT BEHIND A THREE-PAGE SUICIDE NOTE IN WHICH SHE ACCUSED HER SCHOOL TEACHER NARESH KAPOOR OF TORTURING HER MENTALLY

: A teacher was arrested for abetting the suicide of a Class 10 girl who had named him in a hand-written note at her house in Daulatpur locality near the railway station here on Wednesday.

The victim, Tanvi Mehta, 16, had alleged that her teacher Naresh Kapoor tortured her mentally. Kapoor was arrested on the basis of the suicide note.

Tanvi was a student of Sanskriti KMV School, Jalandhar. As per the police, Tanvi hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her house on Tuesday night. Her mother was the first one to spot her body when she went wake her up on Wednesday morning.

The girl left behind a threepage suicide note in which she accused her school teacher Naresh Kapoor of mentally torturing her. “I am not taking this extreme step on my own, but my school teacher Naresh Kapoor has forced me to do so as he has always been rude to me. He scolds me even for someone else’s mistake. I hate Naresh sir, Mom and Dad please ensure that he gets punished,” Tanvi wrote in the suicide note.

Rama Mandi station house officer Jiwan Singh said on and on basis of the suicide note and statements of the family member, Naresh Kapoor was arrested for abetment to suicide (Section 306 of the IPC).
