JJ Singh on Khadoor Sahib tour, begins political legwork
FIELD VISIT Former army chief recently joined SAD-Taksali, which is a constituent of the Punjab Democratic Alliance
days after joining the Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali), a splinter group of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), former Indian army chief General (retd) JJ Singh on Sunday vis ited the Lok Sabha segment of Khadoor Sahib and interacted with people there. Singh is probable candidate of the party for the Khadoor Sahib seat.
SAD (Taksali) president and Khadoor Sahib sitting MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura brought him into the party fold on February 6 in Amritsar and next day confirmed his candidature, though formal announcement in this regard is yet to be made. As the party is a constituent of the Punjab’s Democratic Alliance (PDA), former army chief will be the candidate of the alliance.
JJ Singh, who was earlier part of the SAD and also contested assembly polls against Captain Amarinder Singh in 2017 from Patiala unsuccessfully, visited the Shaheed Harjinder Singh Secondary School at village Sohal of Tarn Taran district in the segment. He said his visit was aimed at motivating the students. However, apparantly, his visit seems to have been planned to ensure reach to the people.
The General appreciated the work done by Brahmpura for the people of Khadoor Sahib . He said new policy will be framed in reagrad to the welfare and betterment of the people of the state. “Youth, adults and children need to involve themselves in sports for healthy living, and also to ensure that sporting talent is groomed properly, “Gen added”.
General Singh also distributed books among the students and assured of all possible help to the students of weaker section of the society.
