Probe ordered into ‘manhandlin­g’ of woman

: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday ordered an inquiry into alleged manhandlin­g of a woman by police during a raid to recover a ‘kidnapped’ girl in Shopian district.The inquiry was ordered after a video, showing some policemen ‘manhandlin­g’ a woman in a village in Shopian on Saturday night, went viral on social media.

A police spokespers­on clarified that the incident happened during an investigat­ion of kidnapping case of a minor girl.

“The video is being probed and an inquiry is ordered to examine the conduct of the policemen,” the spokespers­on said.

He said, “During investigat­ion, a police party went to the residence of the accused persons for recovering the kidnapped girl. However, on reaching there, the police found two accused—Mohsin Khan and Saleem Khan in the house. “The family members of the accused especially women came forward and tried to block the policemen on duty. Meanwhile, one of the accused managed to escape,” the spokespers­on said.
