BJP final list out, 4 more MLAs dropped

PWD MINISTER AND BADSHAHPUR MLA RAO NARBIR SINGH FAILS TO FIND A PLACE IN THE SECOND LIST TOO

CHANDIGARH: The BJP on Wednesday announced its final list of 12 candidates for the Haryana assembly polls, dumping four sitting MLAs. Of the 90 nominees, the party has dumped 12 sitting legislators.

Public works department minister and sitting Badshahpur MLA, Rao Narbir Singh, who was not considered in the first list of 78 candidates announced two days ago, failed to find a place in the second list too. There was a possibility that since candidates for Rewari, Kosli and Gurugram were to be announced in the second list, Narbir might be accommodated. The party, however, chose to field freshers — Sunil Musepur from Rewari, Laxman Yadav from Kosli and Sudhir Singla from Gurugram. Both Musepur and Yadav have the ‘backing’ of Gurugram MP and Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh. Singla is the son of former BJP minister Sita Ram Singla.

The four sitting MLAs who were denied tickets are Umesh Aggarwal (Gurugram), Randhir Kapriwas ( Rewari), Bikram Thekedar (Kosli) and Rohita Rewri (Panipat City).

Among the fresh faces fielded are Pramod Viz ( Panipat City), Nirmal Chaudhary (Gannaur), Meena Narwal ( Kharkhauda), Surendar Rana (Naraingarh) and Sonali Phogat (Adampur). Sonali Phogat. besides being the state vice-president of BJP Mahila Morcha, is also an actress.

The party has fielded former Congress MLA Dura Ram Bishnoi, a close relative of former CM Bhajan Lal, from Fatehabad; former INLD MLA from the erstwhile Mundhal Khurd seat, Shashi Ranjan Parmar, from Tosham; former INLD leader Shamsher Kharkara from Meham and chief minister’s political secretary Deepak Mangla from Palwal. Mangla had narrowly lost the election from Palwal in 2014.
